Canada Punjabi Student Death News: A 20-year-old Indian student was shot dead in an apartment in Edmonton, Canada on Friday (December 06, 2024), Canadian police said on Saturday (December 07, 2024) after arresting two accused, Ivan Ren and Judith Solto. Taken in and charged with first degree murder.
Harshdeep Singh was working as a security guard. He was shot dead inside a flat at around 12:30 on Friday (6 December). Purported CCTV footage of the incident shows three men harassing the 20-year-old student and throwing him down the stairs, one of whom then shot him from behind. Immediately after shooting Harshdeep, the three suspects fled from there.
What did Edmonton police say?
Edmonton police said emergency services EMS responded to the incident and took him to hospital, where he was pronounced dead. “Investigators do not believe anyone was involved in Singh’s death. However, a weapon was recovered during the arrest. An autopsy will be conducted on Monday, December 9, 2024,” the police statement said.

Indian student has also been murdered in Sarnia
The motive for the murder is not yet known. This incident occurred just days after the stabbing death of 22-year-old Indian student Gursis Singh in Sarnia city of Ontario. Sarnia Police said that the victim Gursis Singh was studying business at Lambton College. Police have charged 36-year-old Crossley Hunter with second-degree murder. The victim and the alleged accused lived in the same room and had a fight in the kitchen. After this quarrel, the accused allegedly stabbed Singh several times with a knife, due to which he died.
