Islamabad:

It is mandatory for every citizen of Pakistan to obtain a National Identity Card upon completing the age of 18 years.

Under Section 9 (1) of the NADRA Ordinance 2000, an application for an ID card must be made within 90 days of attaining the age of 18 years.

Failure to file a timely application is punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to 6 months or with fine which may extend to Rs.50,000 or with both as per Section 30 (e) of the NADRA Ordinance.
