Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab has said that 87 percent of the construction of the new canal to supply water to Karachi from the Hub Dam has been completed and by August 2025, it will be possible to supply 100 million gallons of water per day here, while the old canal is also being restored.
Mayor Karachi Murtaza Wahab along with Deputy Parliamentary Leader Dil Muhammad, Juman Darwan and other leaders of Pakistan People’s Party inspected the construction site of new canal on Hub Dam in the City Council and while talking to the media said that water will be supplied to Karachi from Hub Dam. The existing supply canal is 45 to 46 years old, which was not able to supply 100 mgd of water due to leakage and seepage.
He said that the government of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) had planned to build a new canal from Hub Dam to Karachi so that the problems of water shortage in the city could be solved as soon as possible and not only to build a new canal. Through this, 100 million gallons of water per day can be ensured to Karachi, but the old canal should also be repaired and more water should be provided to different areas of the city.
He said that the earthwork of the new canal from the Hub Dam has almost been completed and now the project is on its way towards completion. I would like to congratulate the staff working on the Hub Kanal construction project, keep working hard and complete this work.
Mayor Karachi said that PPP is serving the people according to its manifesto and development works are going on in various sectors including water and sewage.
He said that the government of Sindh has allocated funds in its budget to improve the basic infrastructure of Karachi, which includes roads, bridges and underpasses, and all development works are being carried out in a transparent manner ensuring better quality. .
