Sara Backstrom, a National Guardsman who was seriously injured in an ambush by an Afghan citizen a few streets away from the White House in the US capital, Washington, DC, died yesterday.

The two personnel were targeted in ambush style firing while they were returning from duty. The attack was so sudden that they had no chance to defend themselves.
Sarah Backstrom and Andrew Wolf were among the National Guard officials sent to Washington, D.C., in August, when President Trump called for National Guard troops from various states to increase the number of federal law enforcement agencies.
