Afghan peace discuss negotiators maintain first direct session in Doha


Afghanistan and Taliban peace discuss negotiators held their first session on Tuesday in Doha, their spokesmen stated.

“The meeting of both negotiating teams with full members took place today at 4:30 p.m. Heads of delegations reiterated the need for patience and tolerance as we move forward in this path”, senior Afghan authorities negotiator Nader Nadery and Taliban spokesman Muhammad Naeem each stated in an identical statements on Twitter.

Under the US-Taliban deal signed in February, a prisoner swap of about 5,000 Taliban prisoners and 1,000 detained Afghan safety personnel was agreed as a confidence-building measure forward of formal peace talks aimed toward ending the 19-year battle.

Since signing the settlement, the Taliban have stored a promise to not assault US and NATO troops, however they’ve carried out common assaults on Afghan safety forces.

An Afghan presidential palace official stated a high precedence was getting the Taliban to agree on a ceasefire or vital discount in violence.
