In the ongoing battle with government forces in Syria, rebel fighters have also captured Hama, another key city, and further advances are underway.
According to the report of the foreign news agency Reuters, the Syrian army said that after the fierce fighting, more troops are being deployed outside the city to protect civilians and avoid fighting in the city.
Rebels, on the other hand, say they are preparing to advance south to Homs, a key city connecting the Syrian capital Damascus to the north and the coastal region.

The report cited Al Jazeera footage as saying that insurgents were seen meeting with civilians in Hama and that the rebels could also be seen driving military vehicles.
It should be noted that the Syrian rebels captured the important northern city of Aleppo last week and have since been advancing from the south towards the northwestern regions of Syria.
Fighting continued for two days in several villages around Hama before the rebels captured it.
