Rawalpindi:

The Anti-Terrorism Court Rawalpindi ordered the release of five Tehreek-e-Insaf leaders, including Umar Ayub and Raja Basharat, who were arrested from Adiala Jail last night.

Declaring these arrests illegal, the court issued contempt notices to the five police officers and also reprimanded the police officers for arresting them despite having interim bails.

National Assembly Leader of Opposition Umar Ayub, former Provincial Law Minister Raja Basharat and Member of National Assembly Ahmed Chatta were produced in Rawalpindi Anti-Terrorism Court. ATC judge Amjad Ali Shah heard the cases, Babar Awan and other lawyers appeared in the court on behalf of PTI.

During the hearing, the court expressed indignation over the arrest of opposition leader Umar Ayub and other PTI leaders and said in remarks that why they were arrested despite being granted bail by the Peshawar High Court.

The court ordered the release of opposition leader National Assembly Umar Ayub, former provincial minister Raja Basharat, Raja Majid, Ahmed Chatta and Malik Azim.

Declaring the arrest of PTI leaders illegal, the Special Anti-Terrorism Court issued contempt notices to five police officers including President Baruni Circle Nabil Khokhar, SHO President Baruni Aizaz Azim Saqib Tayyab.

The court also issued orders not to arrest any accused within 500 yards of the prison limits on the occasion of the hearing in Adiala Jail.

Yesterday, PTI leaders were arrested from Adiala Jail after being indicted in the GHQ attack case.

In a conversation outside the court, former provincial law minister Raja Basharat said that we were illegally arrested last night and kept in detention for 4 and a half hours after the arrest. were

He said that the court has declared illegal the arrests during the appearance inside the jail, Adiala jail area is declared as the regular court for hearing the case.

Opposition leader Umar Ayub’s speech

Umar Ayub said that we were illegally detained in police lines, I have this Peshawar High Court bail order. The court asked the police under what method or law did you arrest Umar Ayub and Raja Basharat, but they did not have any answer, so the court granted our bail and ordered our release.

He said that I consider Shehbaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz, IG Punjab, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and DPO Attock to be responsible for this.

Speaking to the media outside the Anti-Terrorism Court, Advocate Muhammad Faisal Malik said that PTI leaders had gone to Adiala Jail yesterday for the trial of GHQ, they were on bail, but they were arrested. They were illegally arrested.

Advocate Mohammad Faisal Malik said that he was told that there is no case against him, he was arrested after a whole day of trial, there is little chance of us getting relief from the court, but according to the law we should get relief.
