|ALLEA and the Global Young Academy have began a strategic partnership to foster nearer ties between the 2 organisations. The partnership, formalized in a Memorandum of Understanding, capitalises on the varied experience and expertise of each organizations.
The Global Young Academy (GYA) provides a voice to younger scientists around the globe with 200 members from 57 nations, whereas ALLEA, because the European Federation of Academies of Sciences and Humanities, represents greater than 50 academies from over 40 nations in Europe. The companions search to reinforce data change and set up a set of joint actions on subjects of mutual curiosity on the interface between science, society and coverage.
A primary step on this cooperation seeks to strengthen cross-border collaboration between researchers from completely different age teams, disciplines and at completely different levels of their profession paths. Building on and additional consolidating current types of cooperation between ALLEA and GYA, the partnership kicks off with tasks aimed toward analysing and rethinking present analysis evaluation fashions in addition to scientific publication and peer-review practices.
Koen Vermeir, GYA co-chair, stated: “The GYA aspires to empower young scientists in regional and global contexts. One upcoming joint challenge develops round a public symposium ‘Research Assessments that Promote Progress in Scholarly Work and Strengthen the Contract with Society’ within the Academy Palace in Brussels on 16 June 2020.
