Nasa Parker Solar Probe Spacecraft : NASA’s Parker Solar Probe spacecraft has created a new history by reaching closest to the Sun so far. No other spacecraft in history till date had achieved this feat. NASA’s solar probe Parker Solar Probe flew at a distance of only 61 lakh kilometers from the Sun on Christmas Eve (December 24), facing the intense heat of the Sun’s corona. According to Space.com, on December 24, at 6:53 am US Eastern Time (5:23 PM Indian Time), NASA’s spacecraft passed closest to the Sun’s surface.
Becomes the fastest manmade object in the universe
By reaching closest to the Sun, Parker Solar Probe has broken its previous record and has reached 7 times closer to the Sun than any other mission. However, the solar probe is still expected to make 2 flybys of the Sun. NASA’s spacecraft has become the fastest man-made object ever, traveling at a speed of 6,92,017 kilometers per hour.
Parker Probe has broken records before
Breaking records is nothing new for NASA’s Parker Solar Probe. Earlier on September 21, 2023, Parker had made the record of the fastest object by traveling in space at a speed of 6,35,266 kilometers per hour. However, NASA had to lose its spacecraft due to coming so close to the Sun. According to the agency, now the first evidence of Parker’s survival will be found on December 27 (Friday), when contact with the spacecraft will be established again.

Shield is installed to protect from the heat of the sun
NASA scientist Dr. Nicola Fox has given information about the importance of the Surya Mission. He said that people have been studying the Sun for centuries. But you cannot experience the atmosphere of a place until you actually reach there. Let us tell you that NASA’s spacecraft has been equipped with a carbon-composite shield keeping in mind the safety of the equipment.
