India Russia America Relations : America has taken a big decision to further deepen its relations with India. Just before leaving the post of President of America, Joe Biden on Wednesday (January 15) lifted the sanctions imposed on three major nuclear institutions of India. With this decision of Biden, the obstacle in civil nuclear cooperation between the two countries was removed. However, there is a lot of discussion about lifting the ban on these institutions. Because recently America has imposed sanctions on Russian oil, which will have a direct impact on India.
Now the question arises whether America is trying to put pressure on India? Because till now India buys nuclear fuel (uranium) from Russia on a large scale and in such a situation, lifting the sanctions on India means that America wants India to make a similar deal with it. These decisions announced by the US Bureau of Industry and Security are being seen as an important step in taking forward the India-US civil nuclear deal.
America lifts ban on these Indian institutions
The three nuclear institutions of India on which America lifted the ban include Bhabha Atomic Research Center (BARC), Indira Gandhi Center for Atomic Research (IGCAR) and Indian Rare Earths (IRE). Outgoing US President Joe Biden has taken this big decision regarding India just before the end of his tenure.
Let us tell you that last year i.e. in 2024, talks related to uranium supply were going on for a long time between India and Russia. At present, India buys uranium from Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, France and Canada for its nuclear reactor.
America’s new ban will affect India
America’s motive behind lifting the ban on Indian institutions is clearly visible. Actually, America wants to cooperate with India in the nuclear sector also, for which these restrictions have been removed. But along with this, such restrictions have been imposed which can affect the supply of crude oil coming from Russia to India.
