A man who was adopted in America was reunited with his real family on Christmas Eve decades later.
Dixon Handshaw, 75, thought she was her parents’ only child, but decades later she learned she had siblings.
Dixon, who lives in North Carolina, arrived in Rochester, New York, over the weekend before attending the Handshaw family’s annual Christmas party, where he visited his half-siblings.
Speaking to the media, Dixon said that he dreamed of having siblings all his life. He called it a Christmas miracle for him.
He said that on Saturday he met more than 50 relatives whom he did not know until recently. The meeting (which included his cousins and their children) was a pleasant surprise for him as he was the only child of his adoptive parents and has no children of his own.
Dixon said that he had never met anyone with whom he was related by blood. They have never felt such selfless love.
