Chief Justice of Pakistan Yahya Afridi called important meetings of the Judicial Commission of Pakistan on December 6 and 14 for the appointment of judges in the Supreme Court.
The appointment of judges in Peshawar and Sindh High Courts will be considered in the December 6 meeting.
The Chief Justice of Sindh High Court has recommended 12 names for Additional Judges while the Chief Justice of Peshawar High Court has recommended 9 names.
Justice Shahid Bilal’s inclusion in the constitution bench is also included in the schedule of this meeting. The appointment of judges for the Lahore High Court and Balochistan High Court will be considered in the December 14 meeting.
In this meeting, the names of Muhammad Siddiq Awan Advocate, Ali Masood Hayat Advocate, Hasan Nawaz Makhdoom, Aamir Ajam Malik, Zia Rahman Advocate will be considered for the Lahore High Court. Apart from this, the names of Mohammad Jawad Zafar and Advocate Owais Khalid should also be considered. will
Similarly, the names of Muhammad Asif Advocate, Zahoor Ahmed Advocate, Muhammad Afzal Advocate and Muhammad Ayub Khan will be considered for the Balochistan High Court in the meeting on December 14.
Now, unlike in the past, the ruling parties Pakistan Muslim League-N and Pakistan Peoples Party have also succeeded in fielding their candidates for nominations in the Supreme Court.
Among the nominees for judges in the High Court, some personalities have either been directly involved in these parties or are related to senior lawyers involved in these parties. This has become possible after the 26th constitutional amendment, under which the appointment of judges The role of government parties has increased.
