At least 10 individuals have died and one other 60 are lacking after a ship capsized in Nigeria’s southeastern Anambra state, officers stated on Saturday.

The vessel, with 85 individuals on board, capsized amid heavy flooding, trapping the passengers, Thickman Tanimu, zonal coordinator for the National Emergency Management Agency, advised Reuters.

Anambra state Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo stated in an announcement that 10 individuals had drowned. The head of Anambra State Emergency Management Agency stated 15 individuals had been rescued as of Saturday night.
