Australia shocked by Ireland in T20 World Cup warm-up


CAPE TOWN: Reigning champions and heavy match favourites Australia fell to a shock three-wicket defeat towards Ireland in a Women’s Twenty20 World Cup warm-up recreation in Stellenbosch on Wednesday.

Half-centuries from Alyssa Healy and Tahlia McGrath powered Australia to 168-5 of their innings, however Ireland chased down the goal with two balls to spare.

Captain Laura Delany top-scored with 32, as three different batters made greater than 20.

Australia,  the world’s primary staff within the format, have received 5 of the seven Women’s Twenty20 World Cups. They start their match towards New Zealand within the southwestern South African city of Paarl on Saturday.
