Azerbaijan arms over 10 captured troopers to Armenia in return for mine maps


Azerbaijan handed over 10 captured Armenian troopers to Armenia on Saturday in return for maps detailing the situation of landmines within the Karabakh area as a part of an alternate mediated by Russia, Baku mentioned.

Armenia and Azerbaijan agreed to a ceasefire at their border on Nov 16 after Russia urged them to step again from confrontation following the deadliest conflict since a conflict final 12 months. 

Armenia had requested Moscow to assist defend it after the worst combating since a 44-day conflict final 12 months between ethnic Armenian forces and the Azeri military over the Nagorno-Karabakh enclave that killed at the least 6,500 individuals.

In an announcement on Saturday, Azerbaijain’s State Security Service mentioned it had handed over 10 Armenian troopers who had been detained on Nov 16 and that Russia had performed a mediation position.

Armenia’s Armenpress media outlet confirmed late on Saturday the names of 10 Armenian prisoners of conflict who had been handed over after being captured on Nov 16.
