More than 7 thousand people died in road accidents in Bangladesh
The advisor said that the Road Safety Foundation recently gave him figures that 7,294 people died and more than 12,000 were injured in road accidents last year. This figure is 12 percent more than last year. He said, “We, the interim government, are taking responsibility for this. We are taking responsibility for not being able to reduce the number of road accidents and deaths. Instead, it has increased.”
The injured will get compensation
He said that especially Beta and the police are taking responsibility for this. Faujul Kabir Khan said that they have decided to give compensation for the treatment of the injured as soon as possible as per the relevant law. The advisor also said that BRTA officials will be directly responsible for any road accidents occurring due to the fitness of the vehicles and lack of licenses of the drivers.
He said that if isolated road accidents occur due to their failure or negligence, other agencies including the Roads and Highways Department will also be held responsible. He said that more than four and a half lakh applications for driving licenses are currently pending with BRTA and it is expected that all these licenses will be issued by next March.
