According to the reports of Economic Times, speculations about a possible coup in the army have intensified. Where pro-Islam Lieutenant General Mohammad Faizur Rahman is plotting to take over the reins of the army.
Rehman had met the chief of Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and his delegation in Dhaka last week. Although Rehman is not currently in command of the army, he is trying to garner support from within the army. There is also information that he is trying to garner the support of DGFI, the intelligence wing of Bangladesh Army.

The current Army Chief of Bangladesh, General Waqar-uz-Zaman, is considered a balanced person and has good thoughts towards India. Haq is currently the commandant of the National Defense College in Mirpur Cantonment in Dhaka and is supported by Major General Mohammad Moin Khan of the Army’s 9th Division, who is known to be an Awami League supporter.
