Tahawwur Rana’s extradition: The US Supreme Court on Saturday approved the extradition of 2008 Mumbai terror attack convict Tahawwur Rana to India. India had been demanding the extradition of Tahawwur Rana, a Canadian citizen of Pakistani origin, for a long time. Tahawwur Rana is wanted in the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks case.

After losing the legal battle in the lower courts, Tahawwur Rana had approached the US Supreme Court against extradition to India.

Tahawwur Rana had this last chance

Tahawwur Rana last approached the US Court of Appeals for the Northern Circuit in San Francisco after losing the legal battle in lower courts and several federal courts. This was Rana’s last legal chance to avoid being extradited to India.

These are serious allegations

It is noteworthy that Rana is facing serious allegations of helping David Headley. He had helped the mastermind of this attack, David Coleman Headley, in recceing the targets in Mumbai. India had presented strong evidence of recce of targets in the 26/11 attack in the US court.

He was arrested from Chicago in 2009. He has also been accused of being associated with ISI and Lashkar-e-Taiba. Apart from this, he has been described as an operative of Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI and terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba.

There was a terrorist attack on Mumbai in 2008

On 26 November 2008, there was a terrorist attack on the country’s financial capital Mumbai. A total of 166 people, including six Americans, were killed in these terrorist attacks. In this attack, 10 Pakistani terrorists targeted important places of Mumbai for more than 60 hours.
