Britain MP On Pakistan minorities: At present, Islamic fundamentalists are continuously attacking Hindus in India’s neighboring country Bangladesh. They are persecuting minorities. Even ISKCON temple priest Chinmoy Krishna Das has been arrested and put in jail. Amidst such a serious situation, British MPs, during a special discussion in the House of Commons, expressed deep concern over the violation of freedom and human rights of religious minorities in Pakistan. The discussion took place under the motion “Pakistan: Freedom of Religion” moved by Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) MP Jim Shannon. Let us tell you that Shannon is the Chairman of the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) related to international religious freedom.

MP Jim Shannon described the atrocities against minorities in Pakistan as “serious”, saying that Christian, Hindu and Ahmadiyya communities have been tortured for a long time. He said that thousands of cases of religious persecution have been registered since the 1980s. The situation of minorities in Pakistan has reached a critical stage. He stressed that this situation leads to despair, and needs immediate attention.

Violence and forced conversion on Hindus
Liberal Democrat MP Paul Kohler and Conservative MP Andrew Rosindale highlighted the increasing violence towards the Hindu community in Pakistan. He accused the Pakistani government of forcibly converting minorities. Apart from this, he has also accused of attacking temples.

Demand for protection of human rights
The parliamentarians appealed to the international community for intervention to ensure the protection of religious freedom and human rights in Pakistan and Bangladesh. He demanded that the British government should strongly raise these issues in international forums and put pressure on the concerned governments.
