For the ICC Champions Trophy to be hosted by Pakistan, the Punjab Police has started preparations to make the security of the teams full-proof.


According to media reports, 12,564 personnel will be deployed to ensure the security of the teams and the high-profile matches scheduled in Lahore and Rawalpindi of the Champions Trophy.

7 thousand 618 personnel in Lahore while 4 thousand 535 personnel in Rawalpindi will make security arrangements, similarly 411 senior officers of Special Branch will also take care.

Apart from this, aerial surveillance will also be done with the cooperation of Pakistan Army and Rangers to monitor the matches and ensure security.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the government will provide state guest status to the players, whose safety will be a top priority.

Similarly, all the routes leading to the stadium will be monitored by Safe City cameras to deal with any untoward incident.

The 15-match ICC Champions Trophy event will continue from February 19 to March 9 in Pakistan including Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi and Dubai.

Event hosts Pakistan will play their first match against New Zealand on February 19 at the National Stadium in Karachi, while the blockbuster clash between the arch-rivals is scheduled for February 23 in Dubai.
