
Rain with thunder and heavy snowfall on the mountains has been predicted from January 18 in upper districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and this series is predicted to continue till January 21.
According to PDMA, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Shangla, Bitgram, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Malakand, Buner, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Orakzai, Kurram, Waziristan, Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Swabi. Intermittent rain and snowfall is expected in various districts including Bannu, Kirk and Kohat.
Precautions and Instructions
The PDMA has directed the district administration to take measures to pre-emptively deal with any untoward incident.
- The district administration has been ordered to ensure the availability of small and large machinery.
- The public is advised to stay away from power lines, dilapidated buildings, signboards, and billboards during the rain.
- Tourists and local population in sensitive highlands have been instructed to be aware of weather conditions and take precautionary measures.
- In sensitive districts, messages will be conveyed in local languages to inform the local population of these instructions.
Special instructions for tourists
PDMA has urged tourists to get information before visiting tourist spots in view of weather conditions and road closures. Instructions have also been issued to contact the PDMA helpline in case of any emergency.
