Chhaava Controversy: Vicky Kaushal’s upcoming film ‘Chhava’ has been caught in controversies even before its release. The trailer of the film was released on 22 January, after seeing this, people started protesting. In the trailer, Sambhaji Maharaj (Vicky Kaushal) and his wife Yesubai (Rashmika Mandana) were shown dancing, which was protested by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to another minister. In such a situation, now the director of ‘Chhava’ has met MNS Chief Raj Thackeray.
‘Chhava’ director Laxman Utekar has met MNS Chief Raj Thackeray and gave him the comfort that objectionable scenes will be deleted from the film. Laxman issued a statement saying that only after the scene is removed, ‘Chhava’ will knock in theaters on 14 February. The director said in his statement- ‘I have met Raj Thackeray. He is an excited reader and study personality.
Lezim dance scene will be removed from ‘Chhava’
In the statement, Utekar further said- ‘I have taken some suggestions and guidance from him. I can say that his words are very helpful for me and after meeting him, I have decided to remove those scenes where we have shown that Sambhaji Maharaj was dancing. Lezim dance is not a big deal. Sambhaji Lezim is much larger than dance. So we are removing those scenes from the film. When Sambhaji Maharaj attacked Barhanpur, he was only 20 years old.
‘Lezim Dance is not bigger than Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj’
The ‘Chhava’ director further said- ‘We have taken the rights of the book called Shivaji Sawant’s’ Chhava’, in which he wrote about Sambhaji Maharaj’s participation in the Holi festival. They will take out a coconut from the holy fire. We thought Maharaj as a 20 -year -old man. It was clear that he danced Lezim and why not? Lezim is a part of Maratha culture. This is just our traditional dance. But, if someone is hurt by those dance moves or lezim dance, we will remove them. Lejim Dance is not bigger than Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj.
‘Chhava’ will be released after the advice of historians
Laxman Utekar further responded to the statements of the ministers which said that ‘Chhava’ should be released after consulting the historians. The director said- ‘We have kept a special premiere show on 29 January. Some historians and people who read history will be there. We will take their guidance.
