Chief Justice of Pakistan departs on Hajj, Manib Akhtar takes oath as acting Chief Justice

Islamabad:

Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Pakistan Yahya Afridi left for Hajj on Friday morning.

According to sources, Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Yahya Afridi will return home on the fourth day of Eid. Justice Muneeb Akhtar has taken oath of the acting Chief Justice Pakistan, Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhel took oath.

The oath -taking ceremony took place in the Supreme Court Islamabad, attended by Supreme Court judges, Attorney General Office officers and senior lawyers.

Justice Muneeb Akhtar will perform the duties of the Chief Justice till June 6, from June 6 to June 10, Justice Mansoor Ali Shah will perform as the acting Chief Justice.

Chief Justice Pakistan Yahya Khan Afridi will return to Pakistan on June 10, Justice Muneeb Akhtar is third in the seniority list, senior judge Justice Mansoor Ali Shah is also abroad.
