Pentagon, the headquarters of the US Defense Ministry, has presented such a report regarding the Chinese Army, which has unsettled China. The Pentagon has alleged in its report that corruption is hindering the modernization of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA). China has rejected this report and said that America is fabricating false stories against it and misinterpreting its policies.
Reacting to the Pentagon report, the Chinese Defense Ministry accused Washington of planting false narratives against the People’s Liberation Army (PLA). Defense spokesman Zhang Xiaogang said on Saturday (December 21, 2024) that the report misinterpreted China’s defense policies, speculated about China’s military capability development, and blatantly interfered in China’s domestic affairs. The Chinese military has been criticized and the perceived military threat posed by China has been exaggerated.
Government news agency Xinhua, quoting Zhang Xiaogang, said in its report that China strongly condemns all these statements and firmly opposes them. Zhang Xiaogang said that for more than 20 years, America has been publishing such misleading reports year after year. He said, ‘We urge the US to stop fabricating false stories, stop having misconceptions about China and make efforts to stabilize bilateral and military relations.’
Regarding China’s nuclear weapons, Zhang said that its purpose is to protect the country, but America, which has the world’s largest and most advanced nuclear arsenal, is adamant on the policy of first use of nuclear weapons, which has led to international and regional conflicts. Peace and stability is being harmed.
He also expressed hope that America would adopt a more positive and rational attitude towards China and the Chinese military. Will create such relations between the Chinese and American armies that do not involve conflict or confrontation, but promote openness, pragmatism and cooperation. The Pentagon’s detailed 165-page report mentions many issues including Chinese military modernization and says that corruption is affecting China’s modernization.
