Chris Cuomo formally terminated from CNN following investigation

Chris Cuomo has been fired from CNN.

The journalist, who’s the brother of Andrew Cuomo, was suspended indefinitely from the information community in November after it was uncovered that he had suggested the previous governor of New York following a number of accusations of sexual misconduct. The Department of Justice is at present investigating the sexual harrasment claims made towards the previous NY chief.

While Andrew stepped down from his public workplace in August, and was changed by Kathy Hochul, Cuomo stored his job at CNN, and side-stepped protection of Andrew’s controversy because of the familial battle of curiosity. However, after it got here to gentle that Cuomo had shut ties to his brother’s protection, many workers at CNN have been indignant that he nonetheless maintained his position on the community.

In August, a CNN staffer informed Buzzfeed News, “The fact that Chris Cuomo wasn’t fired over his inappropriate conflict of interest in actively affecting a news story is not only irresponsible of CNN, but also a disgrace to journalism.”

Now, CNN has terminated Cuomo’s employment as they’ve decided that the longtime TV character inappropriately used his affect and sources as a journalist to collect details about Andrew’s accusers.

“Chris Cuomo was suspended earlier this week pending further evaluation of new information that came to light about his involvement with his brother’s defense. We retained a respected law firm to conduct the review, and have terminated him, effective immediately,” CNN shared in a press release on Saturday, Dec. 4. “While in the process of that review, additional information has come to light. Despite the termination, we will investigate as appropriate.”

In his personal assertion, Cuomo stated, “This is just not how I need my time at CNN to finish however I’ve already informed you why and the way I helped my brother. So let me now say as disappointing as that is, I couldn’t be extra pleased with the crew at Cuomo Prime Time and the work we did as CNN’s #1 present in probably the most aggressive time slot. I owe all of them and can miss that group of particular individuals who did actually vital work.”

Cuomo made his CNN debut in 2013. Prior to his time on CNN, he was a correspondent for ABC News and a co-anchor of 20/20.
