CJP dismisses notion of judiciary being below strain from establishments

Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Gulzar Ahmed dismissed on Saturday the notion of any ‘institutional pressure’ on the judiciary.

The CJP’s remarks got here whereas addressing the Asma Jahangir Conference in Lahore. It needs to be famous that Justice Ali Ahmad Kurd had claimed the judiciary was dealing with strain from the ‘institutions’.

“The impression that the courts were not independent and were operating under the pressure of institutions is not correct,” CJP Ahmed mentioned. “We are bound by oath. I have never taken pressure from any institution and never listened to anyone,” the CJP pressured.

Chief Justice Ahmed expressed anger over Justice Kurd’s remarks and urged him to learn the judgments of the courts.

“We work and will continue to work without pressure. There is rule of law in Pakistan, not human beings. We will continue to support the constitution, law and democracy in the country. We will not accept any undemocratic setup. We will resign from our posts which we have done before as well,” he mentioned.

He added that, “No one guided him and he did not take dictation on how to write his decisions.”

“I never made a decision on anyone’s request and no one has ever dared to say anything to me,” he reiterated.

The chief justice additional added that he had all the time made selections in line with justice and conscience.

“The court does what it wants to do. It does not do what anyone else wants it to. No one has ever dared to stop us,” he mentioned. “Do not create misunderstandings among the people, do not create chaos and do not lose trust in the institutions, tell me whose dictation has been decided?”

CJP Ahmed additional mentioned that every one the judges of the Supreme Court, excessive courts and decrease courts have been working onerous to supply justice to the individuals.

“The courts are working without any pressure; I will not take anyone’s dictation for my decisions. My court gives justice to the people. The courts are working according to justice and they are free to decide what they want,” the CJP added.
