Commission vows to inexperienced EU Aviation with sustainable fuels


In an effort to inexperienced aviation, European Union launched on August 5 a public session on measures to scale back greenhouse gasoline emissions within the aviation sector, the Commission mentioned on August 6, noting that the EU’s government arm is at the moment assessing completely different coverage choices to spice up the event and uptake of sustainable aviation fuels within the EU.

The Commission invitations residents and events from business and society to share their views and concepts, Transport Commissioner Adina Vălean mentioned. “To achieve the targets of the European Green Deal, the transport sector will need to reduce its emissions by 90%. All transport modes are expected to contribute, including aviation. In the past months, the aviation sector has been heavily hit by the coronavirus pandemic,” she mentioned. “The objective of our ReFuelEU Aviation initiative is to use the recovery as an opportunity for aviation to become greener and help to reach the EU’s climate targets by boosting the largely untapped potential of sustainable aviation fuels,” Vălean added.

According to the Commission, the initiative was introduced as a part of the European Green Deal in December 2019 and shall be a part of the Sustainable and Smart Mobility Strategy scheduled for adoption earlier than the top of 2020.
