Common drugs can cause a sudden heart attack in diabetes

When Type 2 talks about diabetes and heart health, it is often advised to eat better, perform physical activities and control blood sugar.

But a new study has shown that more than these suggestions need to be done, especially when there is a risk of sudden heart attack.

The study was shared at a recent diabetes conference in Germany. It focuses on people with type 2 diabetes.

Diabetes is double the risk of sudden heart attack than others. However, researchers wanted to know whether there are other hidden danger factors that need to be aware of.

The study was led by Dr. Peter Horms and his team in the Netherlands. They saw the health records of about 4,000 people with type 2 diabetes. Of these, 689 people had a heart attack between 2010 and 2019.

One of the most striking consequences was about the effects of drugs.

Experts found that some medicines that are commonly recommended, such as antibiotics used to treat infection and antibiotics used for mental health problems, were associated with high risk of sudden heart attack.

These drugs also include medicines used for stomach problems such as nausea.
