This attack started on 27 November (Wednesday) and on 29 November (Friday), HTS took control of a large part of Aleppo. More than 300 people have lost their lives so far in this attack. According to the Jerusalem Post, HTS is a group formed in 2017 by combining fighters expelled from several different jihadist groups in Syria. The commander of this group has also been associated with Al Nusra Front. Let us tell you that Al Nusra Front is the Syrian branch of Al Qaeda. Therefore, it can be said that HTS led by Abu Mohammad Al Julani has direct links with Al Qaeda. It is noteworthy that America has placed a reward of 10 million dollars on Julani. However, Julani has been telling Western countries that HTS is not a threat to them at all.
Hashim Abu Jaber al-Sheikh had created HTS group
It is noteworthy that Hayat Tahrir al-Sham or HTS group was founded by Hashim Abu Jaber al-Sheikh. Who was in jail from 2005 to 2011 until the start of the Syrian civil war. The ideology of the Sheikh is a Salafi interpretation of Islam. Which later became the main ideology of HTS. Let us tell you that after forming the group, Sheikh led it only for six months. After that Abu Mohammad Al Julani took command of it.
Julani tries to woo western countries
An interesting thing about HTS leader Al Julani which differentiates him from other leaders is that Julani keeps trying to woo western countries. In an interview given in 2021, Julani had said that we have criticized some Western policies in the region but there is no truth in the talk of waging war against America and Europeans from Syria. He has also been trying to distance himself from ISIS. He said that HTS does not kill innocent people like ISIS.
