Islamabad:
The federal government is considering a proposal to impose carbon levy in the budget for the next financial year 26-2025.
According to sources, the initial draft will be discussed in this regard during the next talks with the IMF delegation. IMF suggestions will be provided to impose carbon levy.
Sources say that the IMF’s technical delegation will hold talks with the federal and provinces from February 24 to 28. There will be talks between the IMF delegation and the government on green buzzing, climate spanding, tagging, tracking and reporting.
Finance sources say the talks will also discuss carbon levy, electrical vehicle and subsidies. The IMF delegation will also give suggestions for expanding green buzzing in the next budget.
It should be noted that the IMF delegation will arrive in Pakistan tomorrow while talks will start from the day before.
