Corruption is the biggest threat to peace, security and development in society

World Anti-Defamation Day 2024 is also important from the point of view that it has been 24 years since the United Nations celebrated this day on December 9 every year.

Two years ago, on the occasion of Anti-Corruption Day, the central idea of the United Nations regarding corruption was that corruption is cruelly related to peace, security and development, that is, wherever there is corruption in the countries, there is also peace and security. Danger and any kind of social, political, economic, educational, i.e. any kind of development is not possible there. If we look in the light of Islamic teachings, then in Islam, corruption has been declared as poison for the society and it is an unforgivable crime because it affects the whole society.

It should be noted that in our subcontinent, social evils like corruption were practiced under a plan during the British era and for this, the well-known British adviser Lord Macaulay advised the authorities here to corrupt the society here, while their Our society strictly prevents corruption and even today corruption is considered very bad at the social and societal level in their society.

The first major success of the British against the Muslims in the subcontinent was achieved by Lord Clive in the Second Battle of Plassey in 1757 when he defeated Nawab Siraj-ud-Daula with the help of his famous traitor Prime Minister Mir Jafar Kolalch. Nawab Siraj-ud-Daula was martyred. After Siraj-ud-Daula, Mir Jafar was made the Nawab of Bengal as a puppet, shortly after there were complaints in Britain about the Viceroy Lord Clive that he had received very expensive and valuable gifts from Nawabs and nobles as bribes. .

On this, Lord Clive was summoned to London and he was tried in the court under the allegations of corruption. A few days later, Lord Clive learned that the jury would convict him on the basis of the evidence and that he would be sentenced to some fine because he had been a very successful hero general and viceroy of the British in India but corruption in Britain. So strong were the social and moral values against him that Lord Clive committed suicide with his pistol before the jury’s verdict for fear of shame.

It is true to some extent that Mir Jafar and Mir Sadiq and such nobles committed corruption in our country, but the majority of our entire society remained honest and our leaders in the freedom movement were excellent examples of honesty. Thus, on the occasion of the International Anti-Corruption Day, you will agree that corruption and dishonesty cannot thrive in societies that are creatively responsible and consider corruption as a vice. Today our society is suffering from moral degradation and this moral degradation prevailed here in a very short period of time.

It was probably 1996. I was in a controlling position in a local daily. It was a winter day when two poor Baloch youths came at night. They had a handbag with a small lock on the zipper. They gave me the bag. Daya and said that this bag was found at Science College Chowk, publish it in the newspaper public service advertisement so that its owner can take it, I turned the bag close to my ear and heard its sound, so I guessed that the bag From currency notes It is full, I said it is full of notes, to which the young man replied, but it is for him.

The other day, after reading the advertisement, a person came to the office with his bodyguard and while introducing himself, he said that I am the brother of Mir Hazar Khan Bajrani and this bag is mine. The value of which was more than four lakhs at that time, I narrated this incident to Balochistan’s prominent religious scholar and educationist Prof. Fazal Haq Mir late. Begum visited Delhi’s Jama Masjid and during that time she carelessly left her handbag in the niche of the mosque and forgot it. So they forgot their precious jewels in the niche of the mosque, the guard soldiers started running.

The Begum was standing high in the crowd. She saw a poor man waving his bag to her. The Begum Viceroy called him close. It was a behishti (mashki) who washes the floor of the mosque. The Viceroy’s Begum He saw the jewels and then said to that god why did you return this bag full of wealth. Beheshti said on this, Madam, I could not see my Prophet (peace be upon him) ashamed in front of his Prophet Jesus (peace be upon him) on the Day of Judgment, this wisdom (insight) and moral values were among the members of our society until the recent past. There are many such incidents of Quaid-i-Azam, which came with Pakistan’s independence movement.

As the illness worsened, the Quaid reduced his food intake completely, so Fatima Jinnah called the two cook brothers from Lyallpur (Faisalabad) whose cooked food the Quaid liked. Asked who had prepared the food, Fatima Jinnah replied that a cook had been called from Lyallpur (Faisalabad) and both of them had been sent by the Government of Pakistan to serve her. He immediately estimated the expenses and cut a check from his checkbook for all government expenses and then sent them back to the Cook brothers.

On October 16, 1951, Liaquat Ali, the first prime minister of the country, was martyred. While the bank balance was not more than one and a half hundred rupees, they were the heirs of the state of Karnal. These were the reasons that apart from the first national budget of Pakistan up to 1970-71, about All national budgets were savings budgets instead of deficit budgets. Regarding moral values, let me mention that when I was a child in the sixties, living in Quetta Railway Guard Colony, at that time road transport was not as standard as it is today and most of the goods came by railway goods trains. , two goods clerks also lived in our railway colony.

One of them was Rashi, there was a bank of rupees in their house, they used to make pulau, bur or ni and other good dishes in their house, they would send them to the houses of the colony, most of the family would take these haram dishes but they would take them. They would either give it to a poor person or put it in front of a dog or a cat. She had an elder sister who came to Pakistan with her at the time of independence. Not only the children of this Rashi clerk, but all the children of the Railway Guard Colony also called that old lady Phupi. But she used to study the Quran, live alone in a room and buy her monthly ration from her rightful halal earnings and cook and eat by herself because this old lady knew that her brother takes bribes and government officials. Damages the treasury. The second Halal Khorgoods Clerk living in the Railway Guard Colony was very irritable, his children used to sleep and sleep like us.

It is said that some Seths and businessmen of Quetta tried to bribe him but he scolded and humiliated them, one day he was raided and marked and signed currency notes were found in his desk drawer. pressured him that if he resigns, he will be saved from the police case, otherwise he will have to be handed over to the police, thus he will be punished along with his job, then He did so. Now the whole neighborhood was regretting that what will happen now? The house of Railway Colony will have to be vacated, how will it survive with six children? In the evening, there was mourning in the house, the local people were giving consolation, a Hindu Seth found out that this good and honest goods clerk was trapped under the conspiracy, so he came to the house of this oppressed clerk in the evening, and when the goods clerk came to know When he left, he started abusing him in anger that you have come to see this spectacle. Hindu Seth said, “I know your worth, the railway used to pay you two hundred and fifty rupees and after conspiracy you were fired. I will pay you six hundred rupees, I will name a house in your name on Masjid Road. You are honest, Sara.” Now you will see the business and my worries will be over.

At the same time, ST Abdul Waheed used to be a ticket collector in Railway Division Quetta, the young and old of the entire railway colony used to tease him by calling him “Aloo Gosh”. He also caught his brother and mother traveling without a ticket and With a fine from his pocket, he bought the ticket for both and handed it over to them. In the same Quetta, a finance officer named Iqbal was in service for ten years. He also had a strange personality. They would have kept their money and distributed it among the poor people, even if the world turned around, they would neither do anything wrong themselves nor let anyone else do it. If we are honest, how much our country will develop, so it is important that the officer who is an honest clerk should be valued. So Honor them, encourage them, award such people with national awards.

Now let’s look at the facts of 2021 in terms of global corruption and moral values, there is a list of 180 countries in the world in terms of countries with least corruption or no corruption, so if this list is according to the rules. If you read from top to bottom, then the top twenty are honest countries and if you read from bottom to top, they are the most corrupt countries in the world, although in this regard, Pakistan is not included in the top twenty of both types, but in just one year, Pakistan Corruption has moved up four levels, and our number is 124 in the list, now we come to the International Anti-Corruption Day on December 9, 2024, this time the theme is Uniting With Youth Against Corruption : Shaping Tomorrow,s Integrity and really At present, the youth are the most affected by corruption all over the world.

At present, the total number of youth in the world is about 2 billion. It should be noted that the youth have dreams of comfort and a beautiful future in their eyes, they struggle to achieve a good interpretation of these dreams, but corruption weakens the social fabric. Education and research paths are limited for young people in developing countries and especially in developing countries, the quality of education is not only low, but incompetent people occupy important positions in national building institutions and not only increase corruption. are Rather, they destroy all the sectors including the national industry, agriculture, in response to this, the youth becomes frustrated and takes a negative path and the society is ruined by committing suicide.

This time, on the occasion of International Anti-Corruption Day in 2024, Transparency International and other international organizations have released the lists of top ten honest and top ten corrupt countries, according to which Denmark is number 1 and number 2 among ten honest countries in the world. Fin lead number 3. New Zealand number 4. Norway No. 5. Singapore number 6. Sweden and Switzerland number 7. Netherlands number 8. Germany number 9. Luxembourg. And in the world’s top ten corrupt countries, Somalia is number 1 and number 2. Venezuela number 3. Syria number 4. South Sudan number 5. Yemen number 6. Nicaragua number 7. Haiti No. 8. Equatorial Guinea No. 9. Turkmenistan number 10. It is Libya.

Based on the data of two years ago, two things are important here. Number one, in the top twenty corruption-free countries, the wealth looted from the top twenty poor, backward and corrupt countries is also safe, as well as those who steal this national wealth. Number two, similarly, according to the data of the last two years, the total wealth of the world was 418342 billion dollars, 84.3% of this wealth, i.e. 360603 billion dollars, is with 15 countries that are against corruption in the world and are at the top in honesty. Finally, a poem by Atta Shad, a dervish poet of Balochistan.

My pulse was touched by those whose hands were heard

And then it happened to heal the wound of the heart
