Canada-US Trade War: The business tension has increased further after the tariff war between the US and Canada has increased. American President Donald Trump has announced to increase the tariff from 25% to 50% on Canada’s steel and aluminum. This step was taken by the Ontario province in response to a 25% fee on electricity to be exported to the US. Trump posted on Truth Social and said that this tariff growth will be applicable from March 12.
Trump posted, “I have directed my Commerce Secretary to add an additional 25% tariffs on all steel and aluminum coming from Canada to the United States, ie 50%, which is one of the most tariffs in the world.”
Warning of American action on dairy products also
Trump demanded Canada to reduce tariffs from 250% to 390% on American dairy products. He warned that if Canada does not remove other high tariffs, the US will increase the tariff on cars coming from Canada from April 2.
Response in America due to Ontario’s tariff
Recently, Canada’s Ontario province had announced an increase in power exports in the states of Minnesota, New York and Michigan, which would affect about 1.5 million US consumers. Ontario’s premiere Dug Ford clearly said that if the US increased the tariff, they can completely stop the power supply to the US.
