Farooq Sattar decides to subject ‘Azad Pakistan’ panel in LG elections

KARACHI: Former MQM-P chief Dr Farooq Sattar has determined to subject an impartial panel named ‘Azad Pakistan’ within the native authorities elections scheduled for July 24, ARY NEWS reported.

Farooq Sattar has shaped a panel of his candidates in a number of union councils within the metropolis and has requested the Election Commission of Pakistan to allot comparable election symbols to candidates within the panel.

In a letter written to election commissioner Syed Nadeem Haider, Farooq Sattar mentioned that candidates of his panel ought to be allotted an election image of laptop computer, or wall, or lock for the upcoming polls.

It is pertinent to say right here that the Sindh High Court (SHC) on Friday rejected a plea from main political events within the province to delay the native authorities elections.

The SHC whereas rejecting the plea to halt elections scheduled within the province in two phases on June 26 and July 24 directed the ECP to carry the polls as per the schedule.

During the listening to, Justice Junaid Ghaffar requested the ECP counsel why elections had been delayed past a compulsory 120-day interval. “Census and delimitation process led to the delay and as soon as the government approved the 2017 census we initiated the election process,” he mentioned.

He added that native authorities elections have already been performed in KP and Balochistan provinces whereas the method is being delayed in Punjab owing to courtroom orders and ordinances.

“The first phase of polls in Sindh will be on Sunday and preparations are also completed for the second phase scheduled in July,” he mentioned.
