According to FBR officials, Pakistan Customs successfully thwarted the attempt to manipulate the fee -equipped customs assessment system. This system was recently introduced for standard and sharp assemblies. Since such an attempt was expected, the FBR had directed the Karachi Customs team to be constantly monitored. Strict action has been initiated against those involved in the manipulation of the Faceless Customs Assessment System.
Karachi Customs has suspended the customs licenses of 45 agents involved in this illegal activity and showcase notices have been issued against them under customs agents rolls. An appointment officer, who was accused of being involved in this attempt, has been suspended by the FBR yesterday and has launched a formal investigation against him under opial and discipline rules.
A criminal case has been registered against agents, operating officers and other private persons involved in the manipulation of the feeless customs assessment system. An investigation team has also been constituted and three persons have been arrested so far. Raids are being conducted to arrest them so that they can be brought to the forefront of the law.
