The FBR urged the government to maintain 1,730 vacant jobs, requesting the government to ease the decision to reduce the FBR workforce by 60 %.
It should be noted that the government had prepared a digitalization plan for the FBR, which plans to digitize the FBR by eliminating vacant posts in the company.
The FBR has requested the Federal Government’s Cabinet Committee on Right Sizing Meeting to ease the Wright Sizing Policy for the FBR.
At a meeting chaired by the Finance Minister, the committee did not immediately make any decision and handed over the request to the sub -committee for further consideration, which has been directed to review and decide the FBR’s request.
It should be remembered that the federal cabinet decided to eliminate 60 % of all vacancies in August last year, but many departments have not yet followed these instructions.
There are about 23,822 approved posts of FBR, out of which 2,883 are vacant, according to the cabinet decision, at least 60 % of these posts have to be eliminated permanently, these posts have been vacant for years but in the budget. Funds are allocated for paying salaries, however, at the end of the year, the funds for salaries are spent in other periods, with 2,883 vacant posts of officers.
It is to be remembered that former Chairman FBR Shabir Zaidi proposed to abolish at least 10,000 posts of FBR, it is clear that 97 % of the FBR’s tax collection with holding tax, advance tax, and imports imposed on imports. Taxes occur in automatic ways.
Sources said that the Right Sizing Committee did not consider the FBR’s request and handed over the request to the subcommittee. The FBR has taken a stand in its request that many important posts are vacant and FBR. They need more manpower for the transformation plan.
Earlier, briefing the Right Sizing Committee, the Revenue Division said that in the light of the cabinet’s decision, 158 posts of BS -18 and less and 27 posts of 16 to 20 grades have been declared diet posts.
