France’s exports down 21.5%

French exports of products are down by 21.5% in comparison with the primary half of 2019, in accordance with an estimate by the Insee statistics company on Friday.

Foreign commerce minister Franck Riester stated that “these figures are unfortunately not a surprise, as the scale of the crisis we are going through is exceptional”.

The drop is bigger than the one recorded within the first half of 2009, on the peak of the Great Recession. “This is the largest half-year decline since the series began” 50 years in the past, Insee stated.

The commerce deficit reached €20.four billion within the second quarter of 2020, in accordance with official information.

Previous figures confirmed France’s economic system general shrank a file 13.8% within the second quarter.
