The clouds of crisis are seen on the power project of crores of Adani Group in Sri Lanka. A few days ago there were reports that the Sri Lankan government is considering ending the power purchase agreement with the Adani Group. However, now all such rumors have come to an end because the Sri Lankan government has expressed a desire to negotiate with the Adani Group regarding the deal. In some media reports, it was said to end the deal by quoting sources of the country’s energy ministry, while some reports also said that it is not so. The Adani Group also issued a statement saying that the project with 484 MW capacity is not being canceled.
Sri Lankan government will re -talk on power purchase agreement with Adani Green Energy to reduce the cost of electricity generated from the 484 MW capacity wind power project. Sri Lankan government spokesperson Nalinda Jayatisa said on Tuesday (January 28, 2025) that the government will renew the cost of the project to reduce the cost of US $ 0.06 per unit.
Jayatisa told reporters here, “We want it to be less than six American st.” The previous Sri Lankan government had decided to enact a 20 -year power purchase agreement (PPA) with Adani Green Energy at a price of 8.2 cents for 484 MW wind plants. However, this decision was disputed because local bidders bid for low units of prices.
Jayatisa’s party National People’s Power (NPP) had previously promised to cancel the Adani Green Energy Project. The new government refused to sign the procurement values agreed by the previous government in December. However, the Sri Lankan government denied reports that Adani Green Energy Projects located in the northeastern regions of Mannar and Poonarin projects have to be canceled, but the government said that a committee appointed by it will review the entire project. p>
Adani Green Energy had also earlier denied that the Sri Lankan government has canceled the project. The company of Adani Group said in a statement last week that the Sri Lankan cabinet decision of January 2, 2025 to revaluate the approved fee rates in May 2024 is part of a standard review process. Especially a new government wants to ensure that the terms of the agreement corresponds to their current priorities and energy policies.
Along with this, Adani Green Energy said that it is committed to investing one billion dollars in Sri Lanka’s Green Energy Sector, which will promote renewable energy and economic growth.
