Govt decides to allot Paswan’s outdated 12 Janpath home to Kovind

THE GOVERNMENT has determined to allot 12 Janpath — which was earlier occupied by Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) chief Ram Vilas Paswan until his loss of life in October 2020 — to President Ram Nath Kovind as his retirement home. Kovind’s tenure ends on July 24.

While the bungalow was allotted to Union Railways and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw in August 2021, he couldn’t move in because it was nonetheless occupied by Paswan’s household. “Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw was allotted another bungalow on 32 Prithviraj Road, where he has moved in,” mentioned a senior official of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.

In March this yr, the federal government bought Paswan’s household to vacate the bungalow. While the household had sought extra time, the Delhi High Court had dismissed their petition and refused to intervene within the eviction course of initiated by the Directorate of Estate, beneath the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.
