He doesn’t let others get close, Sonu Nigam comments on AR Rahman’s personality

India’s leading singer Sonu Nigam recently highlighted the personality traits of composer and singer AR Rahman that make him unique from others.

According to Indian media, Sonu Nigam said that ‘Rahman is a very professional person and he never allows personal relationships to affect his work’.

Sonu Nigam revealed that Rahman gave him creative freedom during the song recording for his debut film Dawood. He further said that AR Rahman usually does not interact much with people and is engrossed in his work. He said that ‘Rahman does not talk openly with anyone. Maybe opening up with my old friends, but I’ve never seen that.’

Sonu Nigam also said that ‘AR Rahman neither speaks ill of anyone nor shows anyone’s heart, he is a simple person. They concentrate only on work and do not allow others to come close’.

During a visit to America, Sonu Nigam recalled the brief meetings he had with Rehman and said that ‘Rehman neither backbites nor takes interest in other people’s lives’.

It may be noted that AR Rehman’s personal life recently came under the spotlight when he announced his separation from his wife Saira Banu in November after 30 years of marriage.
