History Money: Shafqat Ali becomes Canada’s first Pakistani -born federal minister

Toronto: Shafqat Ali, a Member of Parliament, has been appointed as the first Pakistani -born federal minister in Canada’s politics, crossing a historic milestone.

In the recent elections, Shafqat Ali won for the second time from the city of Brampton, after which the newly elected Prime Minister Mark Carney appointed him as the President of the Treasury Board.

With this appointment, he has become the first Pakistani politician to join the Federal Cabinet of Canada.

Mark Carney has reduced the number of ministers in the new cabinet to 29, which is aimed at stating administrative simplicity and effective rule.

According to news agencies, Carney has maintained most of the old ministers on their ministries. However, some changes have also been made, including Foreign Minister Melani Julie as Minister of Industry and Anita Anand as Foreign Minister.

The Canadian Pakistani community has strongly appreciated Shafqat Ali’s success, and described it as an example of diversity and participation in Canada.
