Sakhi Peer police have arrested two suspects involved in two major incidents of theft. Police said that lakhs of rupees in cash, valuable gold ornaments and prize bonds were recovered from the possession of the accused.

According to the police, the arrested accused have been identified as Rizwan Qureshi and Shehryar Rajput, they are accused of stealing from the house of vegetable trader Imran on December 13.

The two accused broke the locks of the house and stole Rs 2 lakh in cash, gold ornaments worth several lakhs of rupees and prize bonds. Subsequently, on December 15, the accused stole Rs 3 million in cash and gold jewelery worth Rs 8 lakh from the flat of mobile shop owner Shehryar Rajput.

According to the police investigation, the accused Shehryar Rajput is a relative of the owner of the mobile shop and had a close relationship with the owner of the mobile shop. He is the son of his younger brother and used to visit their house often, due to which he was familiar with the inner workings of their house.

Police say that the second arrested accused, Rizwan Qureshi, is claiming to be the nephew of Deputy Mayor Saghir Qureshi.

The police have taken the two accused into custody and started further investigation.
