
Dubai: The ICC is expected to make a final announcement on Wednesday regarding the hosting and matches of the Champions Trophy, but Indian media has claimed that Pakistan has sought a written assurance from the International Cricket Council on the issue of the hybrid model.
According to Indian media reports, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has reportedly written to the international body on the hybrid model of future ICC tournaments after discussions with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Reassurance has been sought.
According to ICC sources, the Indian team will not visit Pakistan due to government policy. While the PCB has agreed to accept a hybrid model for the Champions Trophy in which India’s matches will be played in Dubai while the rest of the tournament will be played in Pakistan.
If India makes it to the semi-finals and finals, these matches will also be held in Dubai.
According to Indian media sources, “The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has sought a written assurance from the International Cricket Council (ICC) regarding a hybrid model for future international competitions.”
According to sources, the decision about the IC Champions Trophy is expected by Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the Emirates Cricket Board is keeping a close eye on the ICC’s decision regarding the Champions Trophy and has confirmed that India will host the matches.
Before reaching any consensus on the matter, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi met Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday.
It may be noted that the Champions Trophy event will be played from February 19, 2025 to March 9, but after the BCCI said it does not have the consent of the Indian government to travel to Pakistan and play its matches.
