India Bangladesh Border: The situation became tense after a minor dispute between Indian and Bangladeshi farmers on the international border of India and Bangladesh around 11:45 am on Saturday. Indian farmers accused Bangladeshi farmers of crop theft across the border, leading to a debate between the two sides. The matter escalated when the number of farmers from both the countries started increasing and the matter reached the point of stone pelting. It is fortunate that there is no report of anyone getting injured in this incident.
On receiving information about the incident, BSF (Indian Border Security Force) and BGB (Bangladesh Border Guard) immediately reached the spot and handled the situation. Both the security forces dispersed the farmers of their respective countries and pacified the dispute.
Role of BSF and BGB
BSF appealed to Indian farmers to avoid such disputes on the border and immediately inform the security forces about any such problem. On the other hand, BGB also explained to the Bangladeshi farmers and by taking action in their area, they stopped the situation from worsening.
Situation completely normal at the border
All Indian farmers were safely called back. However, after the incident, some Bangladeshi citizens were seen within 50-75 meters of the border on the Bangladesh side, who were later removed by the BGB. At present the situation on the border is completely normal and under control.
Let us tell you that there is about 4,096 km long border between India and Bangladesh, which is adjacent to West Bengal, Assam, Meghalaya, Tripura and Mizoram. It is one of the longest and most complex international borders in the world. Due to border disputes, incidents of tension often occur between farmers and citizens of the two countries. However, unit commandants of BSF and BGB have planned to hold a coordination meeting to maintain peace on the border and prevent such disputes in future.
