Six people were crushed and several injured after a fugitive in the temple in Goa in the Indian state of Goa.
According to foreign media reports, authorities confirmed the casualties and said that thousands of people had gathered on fire.
The Chief Minister said in a statement that he was very sad at the tragic incident of fugitives at the Lairy Devi Temple in Shergao village, saying that six people died before returning to the hospital.
He visited the hospital and said that all possible support would be provided to the relatives of the dead and injured.
Goa Minister of Health said that about 80 people were injured, 5 are in critical condition and they are on a ventilator. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also expressed condolences to the relatives.
Lairy Zatra is an important Hindu festival in Goa and is celebrated on fire.
In India, fugitives are common during religious festivals, at least 30 people were killed in a large Hindu festival festival in the city of Prayag Raj earlier this year.
