After a decade, the fortunes of education boards of Sindh woke up and the search committee for the selection of heads of universities and education boards in Sindh has decided to conduct phased interviews of candidates for the selection of chairmen in the eight education boards of the province. .
In the first phase, the interviews of the candidates will be conducted for three consecutive days on Thursday, Friday and Saturday respectively on January 9, 10 and 11. In this regard, letters have been sent to the candidates.
It should be noted that there are 8 education boards in Sindh, out of which at least 6 boards do not have permanent chairmen for the past decade, while both the education boards of Karachi (matric and intermediate) have also lacked permanent heads for the past several years and all In the same educational boards, the chairmen are working as acting positions.
A total of 271 candidates are to be interviewed by the Search Committee after shortlisting the applications of the candidates. It should be noted that besides Sukkur Education Board, Larkana Education Board, Mirpurkhas Education Board, Nawab Shah Education Board, Hyderabad Education Board, Secondary Education Board Karachi, Higher Secondary Education Board Karachi, the advertisement for the appointment of heads in Sindh Board of Technical Education is December 2023. was issued and applications received from candidates till January 2024.
Later, the Sindh Cabinet decided that since the number of candidates is very high, they should be passed through the test stage, however, when the written test was decided under IBA Karachi, some candidates went to court and took a stand that the Sindh Govt. The advertisement given by the Department of Universities and Boards did not mention the test, after which the court annulled the decision of the Sindh government regarding the test and instead of the test, appointment orders were issued only on the basis of interviews.
Now the first phase of interviews is starting from Thursday, among the permanent members of the search committee are Chairman Sindh HEC Dr. Tariq Rafi, Secretary Sindh HEC Moin Siddiqui, Secretary Universities and Boards Abbas Baloch, Secretary College Education Asif Ikram while co-opted members. I am joined by NED University Vice Chancellor Dr. Sarosh Lodhi and former Hyderabad Board Chairman Dr. Muhammad Memon.
