Dubai: The United Arab Emirates has begun to introduce another step -by -step facial identity biometric system towards advanced technology, which can replace the ID card (Emeritis ID) in the near future.
Emirates Minister of Health and Protection and Minister of State for Federal National Council Affairs Abdul Rahman al -Awis said that the new system will operate through artificial intelligence (AI), which will include facial records and fingerprints, and can be implemented all over the country within the next one year.
Under this modern system, UAE residents and citizens will be able to show their identity by showing their face only while traveling to various government services or airport. This will not only save time but also increase security and facilities.
This system is partly active at Abu Dhabi and Dubai airports. Abu Dhabi’s Zayed International Airport already identifies passengers with the help of government data under the biometric system, while the Dubai airport’s “smart tunnel” is capable of completing passport control in a few seconds.
The new system will make the identity process faster, safe and easier in many sectors such as voting, airport entry, and government services.
