Death Sentence to Amir Tataloo : World famous pop singer Aamir Tataloo has been sentenced to death on charges of blasphemy in Iran. Aamir Tataloo was accused of insulting Prophet Mohammad, which the Supreme Court of Iran found true and convicted him. In fact, the Supreme Court had earlier sentenced Tatalu to five years for other crimes including blasphemy, but the court accepted the prosecutor’s objection to this sentence. Now he has been sentenced to death.
Re-investigation found the government’s statement correct – Supreme Court
The Supreme Court of Iran said, “The accused Amir Hossein Maghsoodloo, popularly known as Amir Tatalu, was earlier sentenced to five years. The case was reopened after the prosecutor objected to Tatalu’s sentence. When the investigation was done, what was said by the government was found to be true and pop singer Aamir Tatalu’s crime of insulting Prophet Mohammed has been proved true, hence he has been sentenced to death.
The court further said, “However, this decision is not final and it can still be appealed against.”
