Iraq says overseas fight troops to go away in 15 days


Foreign fight forces will go away Iraq inside 15 days, the Iraqi navy stated on Wednesday.

Major General Tahsin al-Khafaji, spokesman for the Joint Operations Command, advised the state information company that the departure of the overseas forces was underway as scheduled.

He, nonetheless, stated {that a} restricted overseas presence will stay on the Ain al-Assad navy base.

“Most of the fight forces left Iraq, and solely advisers and people working within the subject of intelligence, reconnaissance and coaching remained,” al-Khafaji added.

The Iraqi spokesman stated there may be “a schedule for handing over weapons and equipment to the combat forces.”

On Friday, the Iraqi Resistance Coordination Committee, an umbrella of all Iranian-backed Iraqi militias, stated there was no signal of US troop withdrawal from Iraq.

In July, Iraq and the US agreed to withdraw all US fight troops from Iraq by the tip of this 12 months.
