Israel-Hamas Ceasefire : After a fierce war between Israel and Hamas for 15 months, the ceasefire will come into effect in Gaza from tomorrow Sunday (January 19, 2025). It is noteworthy that the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas was announced by America and Qatar a few days ago. At the same time, Hamas had given its consent for this ceasefire. Whereas Israel sent this agreement to the cabinet for consent and approval. Ultimately the Israeli cabinet approved the ceasefire agreement and the release of hostages.
From what time will the ceasefire come into effect?
Outgoing US President Joe Biden said on Thursday (January 16), “A complete ceasefire will remain in force during the first phase of the agreement, which will last for six weeks. “During this time, the fighting between Israel and Hamas will stop.” At the same time, the spokesperson of Qatar’s Foreign Ministry, which mediates between Israel and Hamas, said, “The ceasefire between the two countries will come into effect from 0630 GMT on Sunday.”
How many hostages will be released?
Israel’s Justice Minister has confirmed that 737 hostages held in Israeli jails will be released in the first phase of the ceasefire. In which men, women and children will all be included. The Israeli government said they would not release before 4pm local time or 1400 GMT on Sunday (19 January).
At the same time, a total of 33 hostages kidnapped by Hamas will be released in the first phase. Let us tell you that Hamas had taken a total of 251 people hostage during the 2023 attack. The Israeli army believes that Hamas has killed 34 people. News agency AFP, quoting Hamas sources, said that 3 Israeli female soldiers are also included in the list of hostages to be released by Hamas.
