Israel-Hezbollah Ceasefire : Israel has carried out its biggest air strike in Lebanon since the ceasefire that came into effect on November 27 (Wednesday) amid the long-running war with Hezbollah. On December 2 (Monday), Israeli fighter planes fired several missiles at Hezbollah positions. Due to which about 11 people have died. It is noteworthy that this Israeli action was taken after Hezbollah fired mortars on Israel from Lebanon. This was the first case of Hezbollah firing mortar on Israel after the announcement of 60-day ceasefire which came into effect on 27 November (Wednesday). At the same time, now doubts are being raised about the continued implementation of the ceasefire between these two countries.

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) issued a statement saying that Israeli fighter planes attacked Hezbollah operatives, dozens of rocket launchers and several facilities belonging to the terrorist group in Lebanon. Earlier on Monday (December 2), Hezbollah had claimed that it had fired mortars in retaliation for Israel’s repeated violations of the ceasefire agreement and called it an early warning against attacks on IDF in Lebanon during the ceasefire.

IDF Hezbollah’s launcher was the target in the attack

The IDF said that in the attack by fighter planes, in addition to Hezbollah’s facilities, the launcher used to fire two mortars on Mount Dov was also targeted. The IDF said that Israel’s only demand is that the parties concerned in Lebanon fulfill their responsibilities and stop Hezbollah’s activities in Lebanese territory. Israel is bound to fulfill the terms of the ceasefire agreement in Lebanon.

Donald Trump warns about Israeli hostages

Amidst the ongoing ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon, America’s newly elected President Donald Trump has demanded the immediate release of Israeli hostages imprisoned in Gaza. Trump said on social media, ‘If the hostages are not released before his inauguration in January, they will have to pay a heavy price.’
